Williamson Medical Center's new children's hospital won't be ready to open its doors for a few more months, but another very exciting project will celebrate its grand opening this weekend.

CoolSprings Galleria and Williamson Medical Center will host a grand opening celebration of the new children's play area on Saturday, November 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will include goodie bags for the first 200 children, a DJ, balloon animals and other exciting and fun events. WMC will also be on site doing free blood pressure checks and glucose screenings.

"We have a strong presence in the Galleria already and felt that rebranding the children's play area would be a natural extension of our brand and a great way to remind families that we are going to have a Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital right here on the Williamson Medical Center campus in Franklin," said WMC CEO Don Webb.

Design teams from both CoolSprings Galleria and WMC have been busy planning the new space for months. The area will be a nod to downtown Franklin and to the beauty that is visible throughout Williamson County by incorporating landmarks and features in the play area that are not only seen in and around Franklin and Brentwood, but will also be integrated into the design of the children's hospital.

"Connecting with the community in Williamson County and the Nashville area is very important to us," said David Meadows, General Manager of CoolSprings Galleria. "We are delighted to be partnering with Williamson Medical Center on sponsoring the play area for the community.   You will notice a special nod to historic downtown Franklin, as we celebrate our heritage and look to the future."

The 860-square-foot play area is being completely rebuilt from the carpet to the top of the newest play element. Located just outside of Belk near Guest Services on the mall's lower level, the play area will be highly visible from the newly added wing, which will include the American Girl store.

"The high volume of local shoppers at CoolSprings Galleria makes it a wonderful spot for us to reach members of this community with our message," said WMC's Chief Operating Officer Julie Miller. "And now that we have a wonderful children's story to tell with the opening of our children's hospital next summer, rebranding the play area was an exciting opportunity and we hope the children in this community will have even more fun when they come to the mall."
