Two Williamson Medical Center credentialed radiologists recently were inducted as Fellows in the American College of Radiology (ACR) at a formal induction ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Enrique Arevalos, M.D., and Elliot Himmelfarb, M.D., both with Advanced Diagnostic Imaging in Goodlettsville, Tenn., have worked in Williamson Medical Center's radiology department for more than 60 years, combined.

One of the highest honors the ACR can bestow on a radiologist, radiation oncologist or medical physicist is recognition as a fellow of the American College of Radiology. ACR Fellows demonstrate a history of service to the College, organized radiology, teaching or research. Approximately 10 percent of ACR members achieve this distinction.

Himmelfarb is a partner at Advanced Diagnostic Imaging and director of radiology at Williamson Medical Center. Himmelfarb is a member of the ACR, the Tennessee Radiology Society, the Tennessee Medical Association, the Williamson County Medical Association and the Tennessee Radiological Society. He is the secretary-treasurer of the Williamson Medical Society. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical College in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Arevalos is both a member of the ACR and an alternate counselor for the organization as well. He is also a member of the Tennessee Radiological Society, the Tennessee Medical Association and the Williamson County Medical Association. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.

"I am very honored in becoming a Fellow of the American College Of Radiology," Himmelfarb said. "This is one of the highest professional honors that a radiologist may receive and only a small number of practicing radiologists ever receive it."

Arevalos added, "The fact that Dr. Himmelfarb and I both received this verifies the quality of work that is done at Williamson Medical Center. This is quite an honor."
